super second set from this show -- ladies, gents, cretins, hangers on, men about town and imaginary apparitions:

Rainbow Theatre, London England, OCTOBER 3, 1981:

Lead Guitar: Jerry Garcia; Rhythm Guitar: Bob Weir; Bass: Phil Lesh; Keyboards: Brent Mydland; Drums: Bill Kreutzmann; Drums: Mickey Hart

SET II:

Feel Like A Stranger>
Franklin's Tower>
Estimated Prophet>
Terrapin Station>
Drums>
Not Fade Away>
Morning Dew
Around And Around
One More Saturday Night

[...]

This set has the air of REAL TIT FOR TAT between Bobby and Jerry.... when this TRULY EXCELLENT Stranger starts to draw to a close and then Jer starts Franklin's at the same relatively FRENETIC TEMPO, AAAANNNNNNDDDDDD pulls it off, YOU KNOW IT WILL BE A GOOD night indeed....

i was thinking about how the end of terrapin had like some untapped "morning dew" potential recently and how many times jer did both in the same show, well, guess this is one...... others?

(shit did i already post about this show? oh well...... cheers to you all you tripped out grateful dead listening to far flung mother F'ers..... these recordings percolate up into the clouds with each click and drag...... you are breathing life back into the dragon, now aren't you? silly humans)

OKOKOKOK, BTW and a big big ol BY THE MOTHERFFFFFN Way.... i am all hot and bothered for the BANTER BEFORE this stranger:

BILLY: something about "assume the proper attitude" and you can hear they are having a SHITLOAD of fun....

(laughter, GD SOUL: lot's of "come on bobby type stuff" billy WANTS TO PLAY and is sort of siding up with bobby to my ear)

BILLY: "come on now bobby kick it off....let's do this right"

(COOL VIBE coming off Kreutzamnn....)

BILLY: and then amping up the ENCOURAGE MENT TO WEIR something like, "this time it's your lead" or "it's comin', it's your lead" like they are about to dance, billy's known sort-of metaphor -- it is JUST WONDERFUL how you hear him just as the tune kicks in.... so sweet to hear!

one such amazing moment in the enormous magnitude of the DEAD LIBRARY

can anyone else decipher what he says?

It's so mean to talk-up a show that's not available here.

Ouch !

indeed my man.....

i got into it last night and listened to it again today, foregoing the KPFA David Gans Dead Marathon... just a great set, and BRENT IS ON FIRE.... i was laughing a minute ago at the BRENT HATER thread below.... i am fairly ambivalent concerning BM, but this show really makes me rethink my opinion, he couldn't play a wrong note this show if he had tried........ just TASTEFUL AND BRILLIANT throughout.....

1, 2, 3...... cheers to brent.

You are so right about this show, in fact it's a beautiful run at the Rainbow. That was a great little theatre and I saw a lot of bands there, but I was toostoopid to go these shows.

Try the 2nd set from the 6th it gets into some interesting places.
